'Fortress' debuts at #12 in the USA
Alter Bridge's latest album, Fortress, has officially charted at #12 on the Billboard 200 for its first week of sales in the USA. The album sold 31,594 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. This figure also places it at #5 on the Billboard Rock chart (which is curiously topped by Lorde -- of "Royals" fame -- who is definitely not a rock musician), and #2 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart.
This shows a marked increase over Alter Bridge's previous album, AB III, which sold 28,000 copies and landed at #17 overall on Billboard. It also beats Blackbird, which charted at #13; however it falls short of the #5 position achieved by One Day Remains.
Meanwhile, the first single off of Fortress, "Addicted to Pain", continues to gain more airplay across the USA. It has risen to #17 on the MediaBase Active Rock chart, and #21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
Fortress is Alter Bridge's fourth record, and was initially released internationally on September 25 via RoadRunner Records. The album made its USA debut on October 8th via Alter Bridge Recordings with distribution handled by Capitol/EMI Label Services. Fortress has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, receiving 5/5 stars from Kerrang! and Total Guitar magazine.
